On March 21, the parent organization of omnipresent noncommercial Christian Contemporary Music networks K-LOVE and Air1 shared that it was acquiring four FM radio stations from Salem Media Group in a transaction valued at $7 million.
Now the deal brokered by Mark Jorgenson has closed, and Educational Media Foundation is sharing what its programming plans are for its newest properties.
In Nashville, WFFH-FM 94.1 on May 1 shifted from Salem’s CCM “Fish” brand to Air1 Worship Now, which will also continue to be heard on W223BV at 92.5 MHz. This expands Air1’s coverage area significantly in the Nashville area.
Similarly, “The Fish” is also gone at KAIM-FM 95.5 in Honolulu, where Air1 has replaced the Salem programming.
What about the other two fishes serving Music City USA? In Murfreesboro, Tenn., WBOZ-FM 104.9 will now serve as a K-LOVE member station.
This widens coverage previously found via EMF’s Nashville-area WLVU-FM 97.1, licensed to Belle Meade, Tenn.
Plans for WFFI 93.7 FM are still pending, EMF said.
“For many of us, Christian music is an integral part of daily life,” said David Pierce, EMF’s Chief Media Officer. “It is an honor to take the torch from our colleagues at The Fish and keep sharing Christian music.”
Meanwhile, the new K-LOVE headquarters in Franklin, Tenn., is set to open in late summer 2024, EMF shared.
And, there was no update on the role of CEO at EMF; the nation’s largest Christian broadcaster will soon have its third new CEO in six years, as Todd Woods resigned earlier this month.
