Kansas City’s Spanish-speaking community has seen formidable growth in recent years. According to the most recent Census figures, 8.6% of the market is Hispanic. Until now, KGKC, the SagamoreHill-owned LPTV property offering Telemundo programming; and Media Vista Group’s low-powered Univision affiliate serving Kansas City have served this audience.
Now, MVG is selling its station in the market, and its LPTV serving Minneapolis. It is part of a broadcasting wind-down for the company.
