Educational Media Foundation, the Christian music noncommercial giant that operates the K-LOVE and Air1 networks, has filed paperwork with the FCC seeking its permission to trade an FM translator for that owned by another religious broadcast ministry.
K-LOVE Inc. and EMF have signed off on an agreement that will send K270AI at 101.9 MHz in Cathedral City, Calif., serving the Palm Springs market, to Advance Ministries Inc.
That’s the organization that operates under the New Life Christian School business name, and in exchange will give EMF K299BI at 107.7 MHz in Palm Desert, Calif.
To effectively make this happen, another task must occur — an upgrade of Class B1 KKLP-FM 91.1 in Perris, Calif., which must protect XETRA-FM in Tijuana, Baja California, a San Diego-market Alternative since 1983 using the “91X” brand.
The plans are for KKLP to become a Class B using a modified directional antenna, and relocating the station to an unused site used for an auxiliary transmitter linked to KLRD-FM 90.1 in Yucaipa, Calif.
And, if that transpires, New Life Christian School will modify the facilities of KWTH-FM in Barstow, Calif., from a non-directional antenna to a directional antenna.
Furthermore, digital upgrades to KYZA-FM in Adelanto, Calif., are proposed. This is key as KYZA and EMF-owned KLXB-FM in Bermuda Dunes, Calif., will be used by NLCS to effectively serve as the originating station (thanks to HD3 and HD4 multicast lease agreements) for K270AI and another FM translator — K246CL, licensed to Apple Valley, Calif.
New Life Christian School is based in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and its principal broadcast property is KNLB, “Your Celebration Radio Network.”
