It dates to 1981 and is marketed as “a unique and fun way to enjoy incredible savings on products and services you buy every day.” The “Radio Shopping Show” has been the hallmark of an AM radio station for more than 40 years, and in more recent times has benefited from an FM translator focused on North Las Vegas.
Now, both of these Southern Nevada facilities are being sold.
Class C KSHP-AM 1400 in North Las Vegas, Nev., and K296HP at 107.1 MHz in North Las Vegas are being sold by Las Vegas Broadcasting LLC to UBC Inc.
This sees the seller, led by William Pollack, earn $180,000 for the station’s sale while agreeing to secure a new tower site for the station, replacing a locale owned by Scott Kandel and presently used under an informal, unwritten, rent-free arrangement. Kandel has only expressed his interest in continuing use of his property for a limited period following the change in ownership of KSHP and its FM translator.
A $1,000 deposit has been paid to Pollack by UBC, a 50/50 partnership between Derek and Sheila Underhill. At closing, $9,000 cash will be paid. The remaining $170,000 will be honored via a Promissory Note, with 7% annual interest. Payments will be made monthly for 86 months.
They are the owners of KD Radio, licensee of KDNF-AM “Genuine Country 840” and KDSK-AM in the Albuquerque market; and KDSK-FM and KMIN-AM in Grants, N. Mex.
Serving as UBC’s legal counsel is David Burns of Lerman Senter PLLC.
