WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Black Chambers Inc. (USBC) and the National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters (NABOB) have revealed that NABOB’s President/CEO will receive the prestigious Chairman’s Award from The Living Legends Foundation Inc. (LLF).
This top honor will be presented to Jim Winston at the 2025 Annual Awards Dinner & Gala, which will be held in Atlanta for the first time on October 3.
The 2025 Honorees Include:
Ray Harris Lifetime Achievement Award: Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis
Impact Award: Kevin “Coach K” Lee & Pierre “P” Thomas, COO & CEO, Quality Control Music
Legacy Award: Zelma Redding, President & Founder, Otis Redding Foundation
Chairman’s Award: Jim Winston, President, National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters (NABOB)
Music Executive Award: Samantha Selolwane, Head of Promotions, RCA
Media Icon Award: Cynthia Horner, Publisher, Right On! Digital
Jerry Boulding Radio Executive Award: Kashon Powell, Vice President of Programming, iHeart Chicago
Frankie Crocker Radio Personality Award: DeDe McGuire, Host of the nationally syndicated “DeDe In The Morning” radio show
Mike Bernardo Female Executive Award: Carole Carper, Broadcast & Music Industry Executive
Kendall Minter Entertainment Advocate Award: Louise West, CEO, West Entertainment Services
Skip Cheatham, Executive Producer and Program Director for The DL Hughley Show, will host the evening again.
LLF Chairman David C. Linton commented, “When choosing the Chairman’s Award, I look for a person whose leadership has had a profound impact on our culture. Jim Winston is such a person. Black radio has been the backbone of Black music’s exposure from day one and later television. Black ownership allowed our music to flourish when others didn’t see its value. NABOB, under Jim’s leadership, has given Black broadcasters a voice in D.C. by bringing Black owners together as a united force. Broadcast ownership means so much to our people. We are honored to salute him.”
In response to the honor, Winston said, “I am deeply humbled to receive the Chairman’s Award from the Living Legends Foundation. This recognition is not just about me, but about the collective work of NABOB members and our partners who continue to fight for equity in media ownership. Our mission has always been to ensure that Black broadcasters have both a seat at the table and the resources to thrive. To be recognized for that work by an institution as respected as LLF is truly an honor.”
The 2025 LLF Annual Awards Dinner & Gala will spotlight industry leaders whose contributions have shaped the fabric of Black culture, music, and media. This year’s celebration in Atlanta signals a new chapter for LLF as it expands its reach and impact in recognizing excellence within the Black media and entertainment community.
The Living Legends Foundation, Inc. (LLF) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1991 to honor and preserve the legacy of professionals who have made significant contributions to the music and broadcasting industries. The Foundation provides scholarships, mentorship, and community outreach programs while celebrating those who have advanced Black culture and creativity.
