Telos Alliance Releases A SaaS Multi-Codec Gateway

Cleveland-based Telos Alliance is bringing to market a software-based multi-codec gateway for transporting multiple channels of stereo, mono, and dual-mono audio across IP networks.

Built on the legacy of the Telos iPort series of hardware products, Zephyr Connect is delivered as a software container that can be deployed on-premises on a COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) server or cloud-hosted.

Zephyr Connect is being marketed as a product that is ideal for sending multiple linear or MPEG channels over VPNs, satellite links, Ethernet radio systems, and Telco-and ISP-provided services such as SD-WAN, MPLS, or legacy data links. It can also be used as a network distribution system, a multi-channel link to remote studios, or a studio-to-transmitter link. Paired with an appropriate server for streaming audio, Zephyr Connect can pass audio, ancillary data, and GPIO with a QoS-enabled IP link between studios on a Livewire network using Telos Alliance xNodes.

“Zephyr Connect provides the same functionality and features as our Telos iPort High Density hardware platform, but with more flexibility and scalability; each instance comes with two bi-directional codec channels, but customers can expand that to a total of sixty-four channels in one-channel increments, making it easy to grow as their needs change,” said Robbie Green, Telos Alliance’s Product Manager. “Beyond that, Zephyr Connect reinforces our commitment to virtualization alongside our traditional hardware products.”

Zephyr Connect is expected to begin shipping in September.
