TEGNA Gets FCC OK For Idaho Upgrade

0

An NBC affiliate serving Boise, Idaho, has been granted FCC approval to upgrade its facility from a VHF channel to a UHF channel. It presents a win for TEGNA.

With no comments other than its own filed in a public comment period opened in response to its Petition for Rulemaking, TEGNA may proceed with shifting KTVB-7 in Boise, Idaho, from digital channel 7 to channel 23.

This results in a change to the Table of TV Allotments, and will not result in any loss of
service to existing viewers within the station’s noise limited service contour (NLSC).

KTVB is the Boise market’s NBC affiliate, and became a TEGNA property through its acquisition of Belo Corp. while still known as Gannett. It was previously owned by the Providence Journal Co. and King Broadcasting Co., which became owners of the station in April 1980 and sold it a decade later.
