Digital radio production company Super Hi-Fi, dedicated to “high margin radio” while exploring AI opportunities, has completed an update to its core AI technology platform. It increases AI system speeds across its entire radio operating system workflow by three times, the company says.
The upgrades include a combination of new AI models; retraining of existing models; optimized and upgraded code for current services; and backend pipeline enhancements.
The goal of Super Hi-Fi’s system has been to provide radio companies with an entirely new level of automation across the entire radio creation and management spectrum. To that end, the company explains that it has built and deployed a set of artificial intelligence tools that mimic the decision making that happens at all levels of radio production.
The benefit of that approach? “Much less work for radio team members; more scale; less cost; and a more consistent listening experience,” Super Hi-Fi says. “The main drawback, however, is that the process requires significant computational resources in the cloud to prepare every moment of radio, and because of this the system has — at least until now — required a 30-minute window for human activities such as voice tracks or news and traffic reports to make it out over the air.”
Today’s announcement, Super Hi-Fi adds, “reflects a system-wide set of speedups focused on providing a much more real-time feel to its services, while preserving the precision and efficiency that Super Hi-Fi has been targeting since the launch of the company.”
CEO Zack Zalon continues, “Our new performance gains are not just about pure speed, they’re more importantly about unlocking capability for our customers to leverage. Our strong belief is that premium production quality should be the foundation of the modern radio experience, but it can be costly and time consuming if you use old fashioned manual tools to achieve that. With these updates we’ve paired the quality and workflow automation of advanced AI for Radio with near real-time agility, and the result is an all-new way to deliver world-class radio with maximum efficiency.”
The announcement from Super Hi-Fi comes as a new study ranking marketing careers by risk of automation shows that three roles critical to radio are among the most vulnerable. As first reported by Streamline Publishing’s Radio Ink on Thursday, analysis from AI automation firm Linkee found copywriters face the steepest threat, with an 85% AI replacement risk and a negative growth rate of –3.4%, earning the highest overall risk score of 90.
As AI-driven ad platforms that automate buying and selling begin to appear in the industry, advertising sales agents, defined as those who solicit ads in TV, radio, publications, and digital outlets, rank third highest on the list of jobs vulnerable to automation. The study assigns the role a 57% replacement risk and a –6.6% growth rate, producing a risk score of 74.
Radio promotions managers are also at risk, with a 52% replacement rate and a negative growth rate of –4%, putting them at a score of 66.
