He joined Cox Media Group in 2018 as Program Director for Classic Hits KONO-FM and Hot Adult Contemporary KSMG-FM “Magic 105.3” in San Antonio. A decade before that, he was Operations Manager and Program Director for WWWQ “Q100” in Atlanta. Flashback to December 2001, and this industry veteran was adding Mandy Moore, Ja Rule and Brian McKnight singles to the playlist as PD of WHYI “Y-100” in Miami.

Now, Rob Roberts is going back to his Contemporary Hit Radio roots by taking on a big role for CMG.

Effective immediately, Roberts is Director of CHR Content for CMG, putting him in a position in which he oversees the content, programming, and brand strategies for the company’s Top 40 stations WFLC “Hits 97.3” in Miami, WPOI “Hot 101.5″ in Tampa-St. Petersburg, WAPE-FM 95.1 in Jacksonville, and WBLI-FM in Nassau-Suffolk.

“I knew Rob when we competed against each other in the Atlanta market, and I’ve much preferred him as a colleague at CMG,” said Chris Eagan, VP Of Audience and Operations at CMG. “He’s highly respected in our company and in the radio industry. I can’t wait to see him lead our award-winning CHR brands to new ratings success.”

Roberts added, “The opportunity to make great radio with the CMG CHR programmers
and brands is a dream. It’s truly an honor and I’m proud to be part of this team.”

Roberts joined Y-100 at the start of 1996 for his second tenure at the station, and previously programmed KXKL-FM in Denver.
