Ex-Telemundo, Univision Tech Leader Joins MediaCo

He’s a self-described “highly praised media industry leader with broad knowledge in Operations, Engineering and Technology” who exited Latino Media Network one year ago as Executive VP of Technology and Facilities. He’s also held key technical roles for TelevisaUnivision and for NBCUniversal’s Telemundo stations. Now, he’s settling in to a new role at MediaCo.


Ken Wilkey has been appointed Head of Engineering for the parent of Estrella Media and heritage New York radio brands WQHT “HOT 97″ and WBLS, along with their respective digital multicast audio brands.

Wilkey is well-known in Miami media circles, largely for his roles as Sr. VP of Technical Operations and Engineering for Univision’s television and radio properties from April 2013-October 2015, and as Sr. VP of Operations and Engineering for Telemundo and its sibling networks from July 2007 through 2012.

“Ken brings extensive experience leading media operations, engineering and technology,” Wilkey said in a statement. “Throughout his career, he has guided major technical transformations, advanced broadcast infrastructure and built strong teams.”

Wilkey began his career at KNBC-TV in Los Angeles as Director of Operations and Engineering, in January 1994. After 4 1/2 years, he joined CNBC as VP of Operations and Engineering, holding that post from August 1998-December 2003.
