A 30-year marketing veteran who has both B2B and B2C experience is joining the NAB to serve as Chief Marketing Officer and its SVP of Global Connections and Events. His most recent role? He’s exiting the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) after nearly 7 1/2 years as its Marketing VP.
Taking the positions at the National Association of Broadcasters is Sean Perkins, who rose from Senior Director of Digital Marketing in November 2019 to take the key marketing role at the producer of the CES conference each January in Las Vegas.
Perhaps it is that experience that the NAB wishes to capitalize on as the organization under the leadership of Curtis LeGeyt has seen its NAB Show each April veer closer to the world of technology and AI than under his predecessors.
Specifically, Perkins “will drive strategies aimed at increasing engagement and visibility for NAB’s premier events,” as he reports to Managing Director and EVP of Global Connections and Events Karen Chupka.
He takes a role most recently held by Michelle Kelly. Kelly departed in September after 17 1/2 years in the organization and is now based in Hawai’i.
“We are excited to have Sean join NAB during such an important time for the industry,” said Chupka. “Sean’s extensive experience in marketing and his proven success in driving growth and visibility will be a tremendous asset to our team. His expertise in event marketing and digital transformation will help us elevate NAB Show and other key initiatives, ensuring we continue to deliver extraordinary value to our members and partners.”
Perkins’ resumé includes a stint as Director of Brand Marketing and Creative Services at Neustar (from January 2010 through September 2014), and two tenures at AOL, where he served as Director of Channel Development from September 2005-November 2006 and as a Senior Account Manager from April 2000-February 2005.
