NBC’s ‘The Office’ tied for the #2 show

From 8-8:30 p.m. ET, “Community” averaged a 2.1 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49 and 5.1 million viewers overall.  In the time period, “Community” is #1 among the major networks in men 18-34 and is currently within 0.2 of a rating point of first place in the half-hour in adults 18-34.  Last night’s “Community” is up 24% versus NBC’s 18-49 season average in the time period prior to the “Community” debut in this slot (2.1 vs. 1.7). 


From 8:30-9 p.m. ET, “Parks and Recreation” delivered a 2.1/6 in adults 18-49 and 4.7 million viewers overall.  “Parks and Recreation” retained its full 18-49 lead-in from “Community” and has now retained 95 percent or more of its 18-49 lead-in with nine of nine telecasts in this slot so far this season.

From 9-9:31 p.m. ET, “The Office” averaged a 4.0/10 in adults 18-49 and 7.8 million viewers overall.  In the highly competitive time period, “The Office” was #1 among the major networks in men 18-34 and men 18-49, ahead of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” CBS’s “CSI” and Fox’s “Fringe.”  “The Office” is #2 in the half-hour in adults 18-49, currently ahead of “CSI” for a sixth week in a row, this time out-rating the “CSI” episode that crossed over with “CSI: Miami” and “CSI: NY” (4.0 to 3.9), pending updates.  “The Office” is currently tied for the #2 show of the night in adults 18-49, behind only ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.”

From 9:31-10:01 p.m. ET, “30 Rock” delivered a 2.9/7 in adults 18-49 and 5.8 million viewers overall.  In the highly competitive time period, “30 Rock” is #1 among the major networks in men 18-34.  “30 Rock” is a heavily time-shifted series, adding an average of 22% to these next-day “live plus same day” numbers in 18-49 so far this season when “live plus 7” results are calculated. 

From 10:01-11 p.m. ET, “The Jay Leno Show” averaged a 1.6 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49, a 1.8/5 in adults 25-54 and 4.6 million viewers overall.  Last night’s competition in the time slot included CBS’s “The Mentalist” and ABC’s “Private Practice.”
On a night that included special competition from NFL Network’s coverage of Bears-49ers football, “The Jay Leno Show” matched its 18-49 and 25-54 ratings of the prior Thursday.

Comparisons with Jay Leno’s 2008-09 average at 11:35 p.m. ET on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” are: in adults 18-49, 1.6 vs. 1.4; in adults 25-54, 1.8 vs. 1.8; and in total viewers, 4.6 million vs. 5.1 million.  Comparisons with NBC’s Monday-through-Friday 10-11 p.m. ET non-sports averages over the 52 weeks prior to the “Jay Leno” debut are: in adults 18-49, 1.6 vs. 2.2; in adults 25-54, 1.8 vs. 2.7; and in total viewers, 4.6 million vs. 6.9 million.
In Late-Night Local People Meters Thursday night:
Conan O’Brien (0.9/4 in 18-49 in local people meters) tied CBS’s LATE SHOW (0.9/4) in Nielsen’s 24 local markets with People Meters.
 
At 12:35 a.m., Jimmy Fallon (0.4/3 in 18-49 in local people meters) trailed CBS’s LATE LATE SHOW (0.5/3).
