A prominent regional institution of higher learning in the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton area of Pennsylvania has agreed to sell its NPR Member radio station to the entity that owns and operates the PBS affiliate serving this region of the Keystone State.
An asset purchase agreement dated May 21, 2026, was submitted for regulatory approval by the FCC this week by attorneys representing sellerĀ Lehigh University.
That’s the licensee of Class A WLVR-FM 91.3 in Bethlehem, Pa., serving the Lehigh Valley north of Philadelphia. And, the buyer isĀ Lehigh Valley Public Telecommunications Corp.
That should be of little surprise to market observers, as that’s the entity that controls “PBS39” and has maintained a Management and Programming Agreement for WLVR since August 2019.
A $55,000 cash price has been agreed upon by the parties, with a $10,000 deposit made to Lehigh University.
Lehigh Valley Public Media President/CEO Hasanna Birdsong signed off on the deal, which saw Derek Teslik of Gray Miller Persh LLP serve as its legal counsel.
