‘Future of Journalism’ Track Coming To NAB Show New York

LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. — A new track is coming to the NAB Show New York conference in roughly two weeks that will examine AI and automation in news production, focusing on how AI is transforming how news is gathered, produced and disseminated.


Whether one likes it or not, artificial intelligence will reshape the structure and environment of broadcast media newsrooms around the world. As such, the October 22 sessions under “The Future of Journalism” track at NAB Show New York will tackle the subject.

Sessions will also take a swing at such hot-button topics as misinformation, credibility and strategies to rebuild public trust.

The discussion begins at 10:30am with “The Future of News: AI, New Revenues and Risks, and the Policy Response,” and continues at 11:10am with “AI and Automation in News Production: Opportunity, Efficiency, and Ethics.” After a short break, the sessions in the track conclude at 1:30pm with “Trust, Misinformation, and News Credibility: Rebuilding the Public’s Confidence in Journalism.”

Moderators include NAB President/CEO Curtis Legeyt, RTDNA Foundation Executive Director Tara Puckey, and BBC Senior Technology Journalist Thomas Germain. Speakers include former WABC-TV and FOX Weather meteorologist Amy Freeze, Graham Media Group Director of Transformation Michael Newman, Hearst Television Executive VP Nick Radziul and CNN Chief Media Analyst Brian Stelter.
