‘FOX 4’ Breaks Ground On New DFW Home

DALLAS — For 80 years, it has had a Downtown Dallas home. As 2024 ended, FOX Television Stations determined that it was time for a change and an upgraded facility. Enter Corgan, which is moving forward with a “future-forward, iconic workspace that enhances wellbeing, collaboration, and adaptability” some 63,000 square-feet in size.

As such, KDFW “FOX 4” and its unaffiliated sibling KDFI-TV “More 27” are readying a move into a new, purpose-built television studio and state-of-the-art content creation center in Irving-Las Colinas, at 2203 West Royal Lane.

As of February 2023, the site was empty, adjacent to residential neighborhoods but across from an office park. The Hackberry Creek location puts the two stations in a central location in ever-sprawling North Texas, just a stone’s throw away from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

With no traffic, that’s a 20-minute drive from 400 N. Griffin Street in downtown Dallas, KDFW’s longtime home. In traffic, that drive could be much longer. For news crews in need of reporting on-site from Tarrant or Collin Counties, the new location will put FOX 4 in a much better position of being on the scene sooner.

KDFW and KDFI Senior VP/GM Jeff Gurley commented, “We are pleased to relocate to Irving in what will be a grade-A complex, and we thank Mayor Stopfer and the Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce for making this possible. Building this state-
of-the-art facility positions FOX 4 for the future by creating a space that inspires creativity,
equipped with technology that supports innovative news, programming, and content creation as well as further engagement with our community via television, social media/digital platforms, and prepares us for future advancements in our ever-changing industry.”

The new, two-story building will broadcast via fiber using no tower or antennas and minimal satellite dishes. All 170 current station staff will relocate to Irving. KDFW’s new station will include studios, a newsroom, offices, technical suites, podcasting studios, and other content creation facilities.

While news of the move first surfaced in August 2024, groundbreaking transpired on Tuesday (1/14); operations are expected to begin in 2026.

“I commend FOX Corporation and FOX Television Stations for their investment in our city.
KDFW is a valuable institution in our region, and we are thrilled to have the station here,” said Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer. “This project once again demonstrates Irving’s winning formula. Through the Irving Economic Development Partnership, we work collaboratively with partners to bring economic development projects like this to our city with a speed-to-market approach and access to a workforce that businesses demand.”
