It takes its name from its former role as the center of the U.S.’s glovemaking industry and is the biggest municipality in Fulton County, N.Y., one hour east of Rome and 45 minutes to the northwest of Schenectady.
And, for radio listeners in Gloversville, there are multiple options for non-secular religious programming, including one of the nation’s oldest FM radio stations: WJIV in Cherry Valley. There’s locally programmed WOPG, in Esperance, and “Alive Radio,” too. Educational Media Foundation‘s Worship Music Air1 Member station WYAI-FM in Scotia can also be heard.
Now, EMF is bringing its Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) KLOVE network to a station that is presently home to the “Northeast Gospel Network.”
‘
WNGG-FM 90.9 in Gloversville, a Class A facility that also reaches nearby Fort Plain, N.Y., is being sold by Northeast Gospel Broadcasting to EMF.
The purchase price is $80,000. A $4,000 deposit has been made by EMF, led by CEO Todd Woods and acting CFO Matt Reynolds.
Signing off on the sale of WNGG for NGB is President Brian Larson, who used the legal services of Lee Petro at Pillsbury Law in this transaction.
Once again representing EMF as legal counsel is Paige Fronabarger of Wilkinson Barker Knauer LLP.
With WNGG, KLOVE fills a coverage hole, as WKVU-FM (the former WRCK) at 107.3 in the Utica-Rome market is too far to the west to fully cover Gloversville.
Meanwhile, Ravenna-licensed WYKV-FM 94.5, off the air on July 11 due to an unspecified power failure, has a signal pattern that does not fully reach Gloversville, either.
Also presently off the air due to a power failure is tiny W281AK at 104.1 MHz, a KLOVE translator covering Amsterdam that, also, does not fully reach Gloversville.
What does the sale of WNGG mean for Northeast Gospel Network listeners? Audio streaming is likely the best option, as WNGN-FM 91.1 in Argyle, N.Y., its simulcast partner, covers the Glens Falls and Saratoga Springs portion of the vast Albany-Schenectady-Troy DMA. WVVC-FM 88.1 serves Utica-Rome to the west and cannot be heard in Gloversville.
