Radio and Television Transactions

Control of the Bath, Maine-based "The Memories Stations," owned by the late Bob Bittner, has passed from Blue Jey Broadcasting Co. into new hands as his estate is settled. With no will in place, the Sagahadoc County, Maine Probate Court has recently appointed a personal representative.

He presently owns some 29 radio stations across Arkansas under a series of different licensee names, which operate under the East Arkansas Broadcasters name. Now, Bobby Caldwell has signed off on a transaction that will yield him six additional stations.

From mid-2007 through April 2021, it was KABQ-FM, and licensed to the Aloha Station Trust. The trust in 2021 donated this FM to a non-secular broadcaster led by Nancy Epperson. Now, she's signed off on its sale.

KBPI founder Bill Pierson's legacy lives on via a 250-watt FM translator covering Denver, but not nearby Boulder, Evergreen or Longmont. Still, iHeartMedia has continued to attract listeners to the Active Rock brand, and an asset purchase agreement filed with the FCC indicates it plans to continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

He's purchased a small-town AM radio station near Atlanta and in June 2022 entered the Myrtle Beach, S.C., market. Now José Steven Lara is signing off on the acquisition of an AM with an all-important FM translator located in a community to the southeast of Raleigh.

The Manoj Bhargava-funded all-news channel transitioning from a digital multicast distribution platform to a national collection of owned free-to-air TV properties has agreed to add two more low-power television stations to its fast-growing stable.

The all-news broadcast offering transitioning from a digital multicast to an O&O framework has bought another low-power TV property. The station's city of license? It is a village in Hoke County, N.C.

Broadcast media broker Todd Fowler is also a licensee of radio stations. And, he's a party in no less than three transactions submitted for regulatory approval with the Commission. In two of those deals, he's the seller. In the third, Fowler is the buyer.

As of today, an AM radio station licensed to Plant City, Fla., and its FM translator serving the city of Lakeland comprise one-third of Salem Media Group's "Faith Talk" Christian Talk and Teaching offering serving the Tampa-St. Petersburg DMA. Soon, that will change, with these stations adopting a Spanish-language format under its forthcoming owner — Tomás Martinez's Solmart Media.

The directional, two-pattern Class D AM feeding an FM translator at 93.9 MHz in Temple, Tex., has until now served as a home for "FOX Sports Central Texas." Soon, these facilities will be in the hands of a non-secular broadcast operation, pending FCC approval.

Twin daytime-only 10kw AM radio stations, its two Class A FM siblings, and a Class D AM with two FM translators are being sold.  Who is the buyer? It's an operator that owns AMs and FMs across Ohio, in such locales as Athens and Chillicothe.

On the southern tip of the Delmarva Peninsula are two FMs licensed to two entities that until now saw 51% equity ownership held by A. Wray Fitch III, the broadcast media attorney associated with Gammon & Grange P.A. The FMs have been operated via a Time Brokerage Agreement through GSB Media. Now, GSB is poised to become the stations' owner.

Travel north on U.S. 101 from the Golden Gate Bridge, and you'll find yourself in Mendocino County, home to vineyards and such towns as Willits. Here, a Class B FM reaching Laytonville and Ukiah and its FM translator covering rural, coastal Fort Bragg are being transferred by Guilford Dye to another group he leads.

Three Rivers Media may be named for the three rivers of Pittsburgh where its shareholders call home, but its a licensee that's been committed to bringing hyper-local radio to Wythe County, Va., and its surrounding region.  Soon, however, the three radio brands Three Rivers operates will be in the hands of a new owner.

A pair of FM radio stations, one serving Fort Wayne and the other reaching South Bend and Elkhart, are being sold. The Fort Wayne FM was once owned by Art Angotti, and later by Russ Oasis and, after that, Adams Radio Group. The Elkhart FM was previously a Federated Media station. Pending FCC approval, an entity committed to "bringing Christ to the world through media" will become the new owner of the FMs.
