It might have a company name that suggests it focuses on print media, but Better Newspapers happens to be the owner of four FM radio stations and an AM with an FM translator in Missouri.
Now this licensee, owned by Greg and Scott Hoskins, is officially adding to its station stable some six months after a deal was reached.
WCXO-FM 96.7 in Carlyle, Ill., a Class A facility branded as “MAX 96.7” that focuses on Clinton County and communities east of O’Fallon and the greater St. Louis region, is being acquired by Better Newspapers from Clinton County Broadcasting.
An agreement was reached in October 2023 but not submitted for regulatory approval until today.
A $150,000 purchase price was agreed upon, with a Time Brokerage Agreement allowing Better Newspapers to assume control of the station since November 1, 2023.
Once the transaction closes, WCXO will join the following properties as Better Newspapers stations:
- KKDY-FM 102.5 in West Plains, Mo.
- KUPH-FM 96.9 in Mountain View, Mo.
- KSPQ-FM 93.9 in West Plains, Mo.
- KUKU-FM 100.3 in Willow Springs, Mo.
- KWPM-AM 1450 and K286CK in West Plains, Mo.
Clinton County is led by President John Perrine.
