‘The Saint’ Anoints BE To Bring In New Automation System

For years, Siena College’s noncommercial FM in Loudonville, N.Y., has served as a unique alternative to the commercially licensed music stations serving the Albany-Schenectady-Troy market. Much like Adult Hits “Bob,” “Jack” or “Ben” presentations, the school’s WVCR-FM takes a “we play anything” approach as “88.3 The Saint.”

Replacing WVCR’s automation system recently became a station need. The solution was delivered through a deal with Broadcast Electronics.

WVCR worked with BE, part of the Elenos Group, with the installation of a new BE AudioVAULT 11 automation platform.

In addition to its Adult Hits format, which attracts listeners via a Class B1 signal blanketing the Capital District of New York, long-running foreign language specialty shows in Spanish, Polish, and Irish can be found on the station, as can Siena College athletics.

“WVCR operates a professionally formatted station to train Siena’s next generation of multimedia professionals through educational programs and hands-on experience while sharing the Franciscan tradition of Siena College with the public,” said Darin Kibbey, WVCR’s General Manager. “When the time came to update our aged automaton system, we evaluated all the leading options on the market.”

He found the AudioVAULT 11 graphical user interface and programming tools superior to other products.

AudioVAULT 11 includes a newly introduced advanced AudioVAULT Scheduler, bringing easier management to complex program and content distribution tasks.

Rich Redmond, President/COO for Broadcast Electronics, commented, “We are elated to be selected by WVCR and thank them for trusting Broadcast Electronics to help deliver their content to New York’s Capital Region.”
