On August 7, 2020J. Douglas Williams, whose legendary career in broadcasting, law, real estate, education and civic involvement spanned more than five decades, passed away in his hometown of Woodward, Okla., at the age of 78. His daughter, who has held roles as SVP/Membership for the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) and is a Radio & Records back-office alumnus, assumed the role of President of Williams’ Omni Communications.

Now, she’s decided to sell two FMs associated with Omni and “FM 92 Broadcasters.”

Brooke Williams has signed off on the sale of KMZE-FM & KWOX-FM in Woodward, Okla., for $300,000.

A 10% escrow deposit has been made by the buyer, Tri-State Media, a locally based group comprised of David Terry, Josh Howard, Charles J. Montgomery, Carl Newton, and Philip Kris Ewbank. It is being held by Weatherford, Okla.-based attorney Donald Elwick.

Jim Turvaville is serving as the consulting engineer through his Turbo Tech Services, for both parties.

Williams’ legal counsel is Robert Silverman of Womble Bond Dickinson LLP.

The sale agreement includes leases with American Tower Corp. for both FMs, and programming agreements with FOX Radio Networks, Learfield and with the Radio Oklahoma Network.

Williams must also repair the main STL transmission system for proper operation of KWOX.

Branded as “K101,” Country KWOX is an 80kw Class C0 facility; KMZE-FM 92.3 is a Class C1 facility with a Talk format.
