Vic Michael has been a prolific buyer and seller in recent months, with properties exchanging hands in Hawaii and in the Rocky Mountain West.
Now, Michael is saying goodbye to a pair of FM translators in Colorado. The buyer is one of the state’s biggest noncommercial operators, which is already leasing the facilities for an “AM revitalization effort.”
In a Form 314 filing with the FCC featuring two separate asset purchase agreement, Michael’s Mountain Community Translators is selling the translators to Public Broadcasting of Colorado.
The first of the translators is K292GW in Boulder, Colo., at 106.3 MHz.
This facility is being sold for $80,000.
The second of the translators is K270CM in Pueblo, Colo., at 101.9 MHz.
This facility is being sold for $40,000.
The sale from Michael to the owner of Colorado Public Radio only makes sense. The Boulder translator has been used to bring an FM signal to CPR member station KCFC-AM in Boulder, Colo.; the Pueblo translator rebroadcasts member station KKPC-AM in Pueblo, Colo.
There is no broker associated with this transaction.

- Educational Media Foundation has closed on its acquisition of K224EY at 92.7 MHz in San Marino, Calif. The seller is Living Way Ministries. Serving as broker in this deal is Greg Guy of Patrick Communications. The facility shares the same signal as EMF’s Air1 affiliate in the Los Angeles market, Class A KYLA-FM 92.7 in Fountain Valley, Calif.
- Woof Boom Radio has closed on its purchase of WKHL-FM 106.7 in West Lafayette, Ind., with EMF serving as the seller. The deal gives Woof Boom 12 stations, including stations in Anderson, Ind.; Muncie, Ind.; and Lima, Ohio. Jon Yinger of Broadcast Properties LLC served as the exclusive broker representing both buyer and seller in this transaction.

EMF may have sold WKHL, but the company headed by Mike Novak on Feb. 1 closed on its $700,000 acquisition of WTPA-FM 92.1 in Palmyra, Pa., from Patrick H. Sickafus. Eddie Esserman of Media Services Group’s Saint Simons Island, Ga., office represented the seller, professionally known as Pat Garrett.
