Uno Radio Group Stations Head To Executor With Soto Death

In autumn 2025, Puerto Rico said goodbye to a radio industry pioneer, who died at the age of 96. Jesus Soto had been active in the island’s audio broadcasting world since the mid-1970s, and under his ownership created such iconic brands as “Salsoul” and “Fidelity.”

Paperwork has now been filed with the FCC seeking its approval of an involuntary transfer of the stations to the executor of Soto’s will.

That would be Luis Soto, who prior to Jesus Soto’s death held 15.8% equity interest in Arso Radio Group, doing business as Uno Radio Group. Jesus Soto held 50.1% majority ownership, with four other minority interest holders.

Now, Luis Soto is in control as the executor, and Anthony T. Lepore of RadioTVLaw Associates served as Arso’s legal counsel in front of the Commission.

The Arso properties impacted by the transfer of control are:

Additionally, there is Uno Radio of Ponce, licensee of WZAR-FM in Ponce, that also saw Jesus Soto hold 50.1% interest; Caribbean Broadcasting’s WCMN-AM & FM and W221ER, also with 50.1% equity interest held by Mr. Soto; and WNEL-AM & W241CW in Caguas, licensed to Turabo Radio Corp.

At the time of his death, the Mayor of Caguas, William Miranda Torres, shared a statement paying tribute to Jesus Soto.

“His passing represents a great loss for the communications sector in Puerto Rico,” he wrote in Spanish. “Jesús Soto Santiago was a visionary, committed to the development of radio and a champion of the value of information for our people. His leadership opened doors for many professionals and strengthened spaces that, for decades, have connected with and served the Puerto Rican people.”
