A spoken word format that takes on-demand content digitally distributed and places it in a programming grid is being added to a pair of Alpha Media broadcast radio stations in Missouri, thanks to a partnership with an entity that has placed content syndication in the hands of Gary Krantz.
Podcast Radio, the Gerry Edwards-led entity, will see its shows air on Class D KREI-AM 800 in Farmington, Mo., due south of St. Louis; and KWIX-AM & FM in Cairo-Moberly, Mo., small towns to the north of Columbia and the University of Missouri’s main campus.
KREI adds Podcast Radio on May 27; KWIX-AM & FM will bring Podcast Radio to listeners starting June 17.
In both markets, Podcast Radio will air in the morning shift. For Podcast Radio and syndicator Krantz Media Group, the partnership with Alpha Media’s stations is designed to give the listeners “a novel way to explore podcasting content through traditional radio.”
Airtime to local Missouri podcast content is a part of the arrangement.
As Podcast Radio explains, localized imaging and station IDs will air across “Podcast Radio Missouri” broadcast hours; this will include original interviews with podcasters.
The lead interviewer: Former KROQ/Los Angeles morning co-host Gene “Bean” Baxter, who today is based in London.
Edwards commented, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Alpha. The team has been great to work with in the build-up to launch, and we cannot wait to hear more Missouri-based podcasters on these stations.”
Alpha Media EVP/Content Phil Becker added, “This partnership underscores our commitment to delivering fresh, engaging content that resonates with our communities. While we are launching on one station in two Missouri markets, our goal is to expand the format to our other two Missouri markets.”
Krantz also chimed in, and said, “Together, we’re creating a new gateway for listeners to discover and enjoy the best in podcast content through the familiar and trusted medium of radio.”
