In early August, Roy E. Henderson notified the FCC that he had created a wholly owned limited liability company.
This entity, N Content Marketing, would serve as the owner of an AM in Petoskey, Mich. and 1 AM and 3 FMs in Traverse City, Mich.
Now, RBR + TVBR has learned that Henderson’s new entity is seeking FCC approval for a brand-new Class C2 facility in the resort community of Gaylord, Mich.
The Commission late last week agreed to put a proposal by N Content Marketing to establish a fifth local service for Gaylord, Mich., up for public comment. The station would hit the air as a Class C2 facility, serving the town of 3,645 permanent residents with a signal between 25kw and 50kw at 97.1 MHz.
RBR + TVBR research shows that the closest station at 97.1 MHz is located far to the north in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula – Class C0 WGLQ-FM in Escanaba, Mich.
At 97.5 MHz is WKLT-FM, a class C2 with 32kw based some 32 miles to the west in Kalkaska, Mich.
There are no first-adjacency issues, as WWCM-FM 96.9 in Standish, Mich., is a class A some 75 miles to the southeast.
Interested parties may file comments on or before Nov. 28, with reply comments accepted on or before Dec. 13. Parties must file an original and one copy of each filing. All filings must be addressed to Marlene H. Dortch, Secretary, Federal Communications Commission, and Office of the Secretary. Failure may result in a delayed or untimely filing.
A copy of any filing should also be sent to Henderson’s attorney, John C. Trent, Esq., at Putbrese Hunsaker & Trent, P.C., 200 S. Church Street, Woodstock, VA 22664.
If awarded to N Content Marketing, the entity would have three other FMs -– Traverse City-based Class C2 WCUZ-FM and Class C3 WOUF-FM and dark Frankfort, Mich.-based WBNZ-FM; WMTE-AM in Manistee, Mich.; and WARD-AM in Petoskey, Mich.
Henderson’s ownership of Class C1 WLDR-FM in Traverse City, Mich. would continue as-is.
Gaylord is outside of the Traverse City-Petoskey, Mich., service area.
In addition to the Michigan stations, Henderson also owns seven properties in Texas.
