As D.C. Weighs Rule Shifts, Hispanic Radio’s Public Service Shines

PHOENIX — It’s no secret that the state of Hispanic radio in the U.S. is clouded by high-profile bankruptcy filings and high-level executive shifts. Meanwhile, the FCC under Brendan Carr has generated many conversations about “ridding broadcasters ills by letting everybody buy each other.”


That’s an observation Francisco Montero, Managing Partner at Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth, offered as he opened the second day of the 2026 Hispanic Radio Conference with a panel discussion that talked on topics ranging from likely ownership consolidation to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) ad buys that have evaporated.
