As broadcast media industry leaders were returning to work following Memorial Day weekend, TEGNA announced that as of June 1, it would have a new CEO: Patrick Paolini. It’s a direct result of ongoing litigation between DirecTV and state attorneys general and TEGNA and its owner, Nexstar Media Group, designed to prevent Nexstar from fully merging TEGNA’s assets with its own.
Now, with a hopeful station integration years away and three courtrooms involved, Paolini has promoted four individuals at TEGNA as it seeks to coalesce a refreshed executive leadership team.
- Marc Sher has been promoted to Senior VP/General Counsel, from VP/Associate GC and Secretary, overseeing all of TEGNA’s legal matters, including, among other things, compliance, contracts, litigation, regulatory matters, and risk management. He previously was a partner at Dow Lohnes PLLC.
- Raquel Amparo has been named Senior VP/Content, rising from VP of Content, leading the company’s content strategy, creation and content partnerships across platforms. Amparo previously served as President/GM for CBS Television Stations in Dallas-Fort Worth. Before that, she was VP of News for Univision in Dallas-Fort Worth.
- Melissa Jones rises to Sr. VP of Human Resources, from VP.
- Pamela Long has been elevated to Sr. VP of Finance, rising from VP.
“Each of these individuals has a proven record of measurable results built on experience, strong instincts and sound judgment,” Paolini said. “As our leadership team continues to grow, these are the qualities that will shape TEGNA’s future.”
