TASCAM has a long history of supplying power distribution products to the Japanese market, where they have been widely adopted in broadcast sound applications.
Building on that experience, TASCAM is now introducing new power distribution models designed to meet North American power standards.
The AV-P2803 Power Conditioner with Sequencer and AV-P5015N Power Distribution Unit with Intelligent Network Management have been released, and each offer what the company believes are flexible approaches to power distribution, controlled startup and shutdown, and improved system reliability.
“These two single-spaced rackmount units were developed to meet the needs of demanding professional environments,” TASCAM said, adding that the products are built to address different power management requirements. “The AV-P2803 provides robust power distribution, three-stage sequencing, power conditioning, and external control, while the AV-P5010N expands on those capabilities with network-based remote monitoring and control, automated scheduling, device monitoring, and recovery functions.”
The AV-P2803 is a 15A (UL derated: 12A) power distribution unit designed for professional audio and facility systems. With six switched outlets on the rear panel, three timing stages, and two unswitched outlets on both the front and rear panels, the AV-P2803 provides a wide range of power distribution options. Its three-stage power sequencing function provides selectable delay configurations, allowing connected equipment to be powered on and off in a controlled order.
Built-in surge protection and EMI/RFI noise filtering provide clean and stable power, while a voltage display gives users real=time power status monitoring. Dedicated control terminals allow for daisy chaining up to ten units and external operation, adding even more flexibility for large installations.
The AV-P501N is a 15A (UL derated: 12A) network managed power distribution unit featuring eight NEMA 5-15R outlets and IP-based remote monitoring plus control. With a built-in web interface, users can monitor outlet status, voltage, current, power consumption, and even environmental conditions (when paired with the optional EA1240 temperature and humidity sensor.) the remote control function allows users to assign individual or all outlets for remote startup, shutdown, and automatic recover.
Configurable outlets support independent power-on and off delay times for proper sequencing. The built-in scheduler supports automated power operation and reboot functions with comprehensive scheduling options.
The AV-P5015N’s Auto Ping function monitors network activity for remote and unattended installations. The unit can automatically reboot any connected equipment, reducing the need for on-site service. Additional tools for maintenance and troubleshooting include event logs and Syslog support.
Both new TASCAM power management devices feature a 1U rack mount chassis.
