The owner of a low-power television station licensed to a Montana city has received a proposed fine for tardiness. It’s the latest example of how the FCC Media Bureau’s Video Division, led by Barbara Kreisman, is pocketing at least $1,000 from a broadcaster — fines that could quickly add up to vital Commission operational funding.
Kreisman has proposed a $1,500 penalty be accessed to Glendive Broadcasting Corporation for being late with its license renewal application for K13IG-D in Sidney-Fairview, Mont.
The application for renewal of the station’s license should have been filed by December 1, 2021, the first day of the fourth full calendar month prior to the Station’s license expiration date of April 1, 2022.
Oops. An application was not filed until January 19, 2022, without explanation.
The low-power TV station is associated with KXGN-5 in Glendive, Mont., owned by Glendive Broadcasting.
