It’s available via Roku and Amazon’s Fire TV, through its website, and relies on the news teams of The E.W. Scripps Co.‘s stations in Miami-Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Fort Myers-Naples, Tampa, and Tallahassee for much of its news stories.
Soon, it will resolve Florida 24‘s void in Orlando and Jacksonville thanks to a partnership with the broadcast TV station owner controlled by Apollo Global Management.
This will allow Scripps to offer content from Cox Media Group stations in Central Florida and in Florida’s First Coast on Scripps’ Florida 24 Network.
The Jacksonville and Orlando content is expected to launch on “FL24” by the end of March.
Florida 24 was founded in 2021 and is mainly a OTT offering; it is available as a digital multicast network in West Palm Beach.
Scripps Local Media VP of Emerging Products Joe Naylor said, “With the launch of Florida 24 in 2021, Scripps doubled down on its commitment to serve viewers throughout the state with the news, entertainment and information most essential to their lives. Partnering with Cox deepens this commitment by providing even more valuable content from the additional key markets of Jacksonville and Orlando. This allows us to better serve new audiences and local advertisers throughout Florida and build upon the growth FL24 has already recognized to-date.”
CMG EVP of Content, Product and Innovation Marian Pittman added, “This partnership makes perfect sense because Scripps and CMG are so like-minded and share similar values. We both believe in the power of local news and investigative journalism, and we share a commitment to integrity and fairness. Collaboration will be the key to a successful partnership. We’ll provide local news, weather, and other important local information from Jacksonville and Orlando while connecting our viewers to important state-wide content they want. We look forward to getting started.”
