In a landmark deal, Salem Media Group has effectively converted its OTT-exclusive Salem News Channel visual media offering to a multiplatform entity, thanks to a partnership with the owner of low-power TV stations across the U.S. once led by Philip Falcone.
The Les Levi-headed HC2 Broadcasting on Wednesday (6/12) signed an agreement with the company known for its audio content and distribution platform focused on Christian and secular conservative talk programming.
This will see the Salem News Channel gain access to 25% of the nation’s broadcast TV markets, and the channel’s first foray into the broadcast television space.
Overseeing the launch for Salem is Salem News Channel VP/GM Cary Pahigian, who was named to the role in July 2022. Pahigian was previously President/GM of Hearst’s News/Talk WBAL-AM 1090 (and FM translator at 101.5 MHz) and WIYY-FM “98 Rock” in Baltimore. “We welcome our new partnership with HC2 Broadcasting,” he said. “This is another significant step in the rapid growth and distribution of the Salem News Channel, and in HC2 Broadcasting’s expansion.”
Levi added, “We are excited about our partnership with Salem Media Group and delighted to be launching the Salem News Channel on our TV broadcast platform. The channel will be available for the first time to broadcast television viewers, who should enjoy the network’s rich and informative news content.”
For viewers, a digital television antenna is likely needed to tune to the channels SNC is now airing on. MVPD distribution is not known.
