To the northwest of Abilene, Tex., by roughly 45 minutes is the tiny town of Roby — with a population of 643 as of the 2010 Census.
Now, those 643 residents and others in nearby towns will soon enjoy a brand-new radio station — one that is being transferred to a new owner for a bargain price.
The new station is a Class A facility with 6kw, taking the call letters KAYR-FM.
It is licensed for broadcast at 105.9 MHz, and it has just been acquired by Mekaddesh Group Corporation, known specifically as a builder of radio and TV stations—including studio installation, antenna construction, and a provider of FCC advise.
It is also known as the entity controlled by President Maria Guel. If this name is familiar to astute readers of TRANSACTIONS TODAY, it is because she is the wife of Antonio Cesar Guel, an individual branded as a serial translator applicant who has been denied translators by the FCC for illegitimate addresses and misrepresentation.
Maria Guel’s Mekaddesh is the party that acquired KZAM-FM 98.7 in Pleasant Valley, Texas, a Class A which serves the Wichita Falls, Tex., market, in February 2017 for $122,000.
Now, it is getting future KAYR-FM for a mere $10,000. The seller is Stephen J. Brown Jr. of Park City, Kan.
What will KAYR air? It’s a safe bet that a Spanish-language format offering either non-secular or Regional Mexican programming will air on the station. KZAM is presently “La Tremenda,” offering Regional Mexican hits and the syndicated Piolín por la mañana in morning drive.
