The sole owner of a Class A FM and a 5-watt FM translator companion covering a rural area of Western Maryland, a portion of West Virginia and a tiny piece of Pennsylvania has passed away. As such, an involuntary transfer of the broadcast assets to an estate is taking place.

Ernest F. Santmyire was aged 87 and died at his home on April 6.  Known in Cumberland, Md., as the deacon at St. Marks Community Church and as a Union Officer at AFSCME, Santmyire was also the owner and operator of Contemporary Christian WWPN-FM “Spirit 101” in Westernport, Md., and simulcast partner W300BU at 107.9 MHz in Keyser, W. Va.

With no stated heir, a probated will on April 21 designated that the stations be transferred to an estate.

To get Commission approval of the move, John C. Trent of Putbrese, Hunsacker & Trent handled the filing on behalf of Santmyire’s estate.
