Sukhdev Dhillon has long been associated with radio stations airing South Asian-focused programming under the “Radio Punjab” brand, in addition to “Radio Spice” in Washington State.
Now, the Canadian citizen has engineered a transaction that will see his partnership with U.S. citizen Tarnvir Singh Bisla acquire a 6kw Class A FM in Kernan, Calif., and its all-important 265-watt booster amplifying its coverage of Fresno.
Dhillon and Bisla, the 80% equity interest holder in TEG Broadcasting, have signed off on the acquisition of KOKO-FM 94.3 in the Fresno market.
The seller is Big Broadcasting, led by Dale Berger.
The sale of KOKO has been in the works since December 2002. However, an asset purchase agreement was not signed by TEG until June 30.
TEG is paying $330,000 for the FM and its FM booster, and a $16,500 escrow deposit has been made to Berger’s group.
Jorgenson Broadcast Brokerage is holding the escrow payment; Jorgenson represented the buyer in this transaction.
While Berger presently leads Big Broadcasting, KOKO was famously owned by the late Art Laboe, who died on October 7, 2022. Laboe purchased the facility in 1998.
