Over the last 5 1/2 years, the Elmira-Corning, N.Y., market has seen significant consolidation. This included an October 2022 transaction that saw Tower Broadcasting, led by Gordon Ichikawa, agree to a facilities swap and asset sale that saw the intellectual property of the FM that had been home to “94 Rock” become the property of broadcast ministry Family Life Ministries.

Now, the AM and two FM translators “94 Rock” moved to are being sold.

For $100,000, the licenses and intellectual property tied to what is presently the home of “94 Rock” — WELM-AM 1410 in Elmira; W293CZ at 106.5 MHz in Elmira; and W230BB at 93.9 MHz in Elmira, N.Y. is being sold along with Class A Country WOKN-FM 99.5 and translators W273AC at 102.5 MHz and W244EC at 96.7 MHz in Corning, N.Y.

The buyer is Radigan Broadcasting, which on January 1 began operating both “94 Rock” and WOKN on January 1.

A $5,000 deposit has been made. Upon closing, the remainder will be paid in cash. This will add “94 Rock” and WOKN to a group of stations comprised of WTXW-AM & WTTC-FM in Towanda, Pa.; WEBO-AM in Owego, N.Y.; and five FM translators across the Southern Tier of New York, which stretches from Binghamton to Bath along Route 17.

Radigan, through WATS Up LLC, also controls WAVR-FM in Waverly, N.Y., and WATS-AM in Sayre, Pa., within the Elmira-Corning market.

The transaction increases Radigan’s holdings in an area where Seven Mountains Media enjoys a dominant position through a series of transactions completed over the last six years.
