NEXTGEN TV Lassoes An El Paso Lighthouse

Five of the leading broadcast television stations serving the only market in the Lone Star State on Mountain time have launched NEXTGEN TV broadcasts, with a Sinclair FOX affiliate serving as the market’s “lighthouse” for ATSC 3.0 powered transmissions.

KFOX-14, which uses digital channel 15, in El Paso, Tex., has signed on as the hub for NEXTGEN TV in the market, which includes Las Cruces, N. Mex. and perhaps some over-the-air viewers across the U.S.-Mexico border in Juarez.

Participating in the launch are not only KFOX but also KVIA-TV, the ABC affiliate owned by Missouri-headquartered News Press & Gazette Co.; KBDC-TV, El Paso’s home for CBS owned by Nexstar Media Group; and NBCUniversal O&O KTSM-TV and Telemundo sibling KTDO-TV.

BitPath led the planning process and coordinated efforts across the stations.

Noticeably absent from the launch of NEXTGEN TV in the market is Entravision-owned Univision affiliate KINT-26, and PBS El Paso.
