KNTV-11 in San Jose, branded as “NBC Bay Area,” is adding an additional hour of local news to its daily schedule, starting September 7.
It happens to be in the time slot that, until today, is held by The Kelly Clarkson Show.
The first-ever American Idol winner and pop music star is saying goodbye to daytime television on Monday (8/31), and “NBC Bay Area” is just one of the stations faced with what to fill the time slot with.
After a week of nationally produced programming, “NBC Bay Area at 3” will come to life on the Labor Day holiday. Janelle Wang and Audrey Asistio will anchor the newscast, with Vianey Arana serving as meteorologist and reporter.
“Expanding our local news programming reflects NBC Bay Area’s continued investment in trusted, relevant local journalism,” said Stacy Owen, President and General Manager of KNTV and KSTS “Telemundo 48.”
