The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday heard oral arguments in a legal challenge from broadcasters to the Federal Communications Commission’s 2018 quadrennial review.
During the arguments, broadcasters argued that outdated ownership regulations hinder local stations’ ability to serve their communities, innovate and compete with Big Tech, and these rules don’t reflect today’s media marketplace.
This led the NAB’s SVP of Communications to pen an advocacy piece calling for immediate action from the courts, as “ownership regulations are from a bygone era.”
