It’s no secret that GEICO is one of the biggest users of traditional media to reach advertisers. Although it is second to Progressive this week on the Spot Ten Radio report from Media Monitors, it is dominating Spot Cable.
That said, it is not challenged by Progressive at Spot Cable but by another competitor.
Rather, at Spot Cable it is Liberty Mutual Insurance that seeks to compete with dominant auto insurer GEICO.
Progressive is present, but with nearly 30,000 fewer cable TV spots as GEICO.
Then, there is State Farm, which has been largely absent from the Spot Ten Radio report.

What’s the situation at Spot Television?
GEICO, Progressive and Liberty Mutual Insurance are each very much present, but there is a much more diverse group of brands using spot television. This shows the resilience of broadcast TV through the COVID-19 pandemic, which appears to be rebounding at a much swifter pace than broadcast radio.
Also benefiting spot TV: Joe Biden for President campaign ads, which numbered 17,335 for the week ending August 23.
