The Media Financial Management Annual Conference is gearing up for its May 18 opening reception and 2 1/2 days of panel sessions and financially focused discussions in Arlington, Va., and will kick off its first full day of information-filled conversation with a welcome address from the head of the NAB. Immediately after that is a featured keynote Chief Financial Officer panel presentation moderated by the Publisher/President of Streamline Publishing’s Radio + Television Business Report and Radio Ink.
Deborah Parenti will lead the conversation as Sinclair Inc. EVP/Chief Financial Officer Lucy Rutishauser, Saga Communications EVP/CFO and Treasurer Sam Bush, and Hearst Television CFO John Drain engage in what is poised to be a wide-ranging discussion of the leadership skills necessary to navigate organizations through one of the most tumultuous times in the industry’s history.
The executives are also expected to share the insights and wisdom that have helped them lead their companies through mergers and acquisitions, cybersecurity threats, capital market transactions, and an unpredictable environment that is seeing the industry reinvent itself in real time.
The keynote CFO panel is scheduled for 8:40am, after a welcome address from NAB President/CEO Curtis LeGeyt at 8:25am. LeGeyt is expected to discuss “the transformative shifts reshaping the media landscape and what broadcasters are doing to capitalize on these changes.” LeGeyt will also give an overview of the pressing policy issues impacting the media and entertainment industry and local stations’ ability to serve their communities.
The remainder of the MFM Annual Conference’s first day is chock full of intriguing panel discussions, which RBR+TVBR Editor-in-Chief Adam R Jacobson will be covering in-person at the Marriott Crystal Gateway. Among the key sessions is a detailed discussion from Nielsen Audio’s Rich Tunkel about the new “3-minute qualifier rule” and how this presents new opportunities for the Radio industry; Washington legal and policy issues for media companies explained by Wilkinson Barker Knauer attorney David Oxenford and the NAB VP of Public Policy, Kirsten Donaldson.
