CHICAGO — The iHeartMedia-owned spoken word network led by President Tony Coles has appointed a new VP of News and Content, and he’ll be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the newsroom and its team of journalists, with a focus on developing news content of interest to African American audio consumers.
Taking the role is Terry Foxx, who transfers from the role of Regional Director of Talk Programming for iHeartMedia in the Austin and San Antonio markets.
Foxx is an individual the University of Texas in February 2022 described as “a seasoned award-winning program director with long-standing commercial radio experience.” At the time, Foxx was joining NPR Member KUT-FM in Austin, as Director of Programming and Audience. Before that, and ahead of joining iHeartMedia’s Austin and San Antonio programming team, he served as Brand Manager for WFNZ-AM and WLNK-FM in Charlotte for Urban One. He has also been the Program Director for Sports Talker WZGC-FM in Atlanta (from 2010-2020) and installed the Sports Talk format on the 93.7 MHz frequency in Pittsburgh once home to “B94” (today KDKA-FM).
Foxx is also a former on-air talent, and has worked as a personality at such stations as WPLJ-FM in New York, under ABC ownership.
“I am excited to have Terry join BIN: Black Information Network,” said Coles. “In today’s rapidly changing media landscape, the role of news in shaping public discourse has never been more important. We’re confident his contributions will strengthen our position as a leader in delivering inclusive and impactful news and content to our audiences.”
Foxx added that he’s thrilled to contribute to the growth and success of BIN: Black Information Network. “BIN is a vital platform for amplifying diverse voices and delivering trusted, relevant news to our communities. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact and further strengthen the connection between BIN and the audiences we serve.”
It is believed that Chris Thompson, who was named SVP/News and Programming from VP/Network Operations in January 2024, is no longer in the role at BIN.
