Súper Estrella: EVTV Coverage Expands With MediaCo Deal

It was a monumental act carried out by the Armed Forces of the United States that led NBCUniversal Hispanic Enterprises’ Telemundo network to pre-empt its Saturday night programming, opting for special coverage. Venezeulan leader Nicolas Maduro and his wife were captured and brought to Brooklyn to face narcotics trade charges, bringing cheers from ex-patriots from Doral to Dyker Heights.

MediaCo Holding Inc. took it one step further, striking a strategic content collaboration with a 12-year-old news organization founded by journalists who fled the regime of the late Hugo Chavez.

EVTV Digital Network, founded as El Venezolano TV in January 2014, can be found on Canal 1090 on Comcast Xfinity systems and is available in the U.S. via Roku, AppleTV and Amazon Fire TV. Panamanians can receive EVTV on CableOnda systems.

As of today, MediaCo’s Estrella TV is sharing EVTV’s live news coverage of ongoing and developing events in Venezuela.

Specifically, EstrellaTV will have access to EVTV Digital Network’s full roster of reporters and correspondents, enabling the network to broadcast live reports, breaking news updates, and in-depth analysis directly from Venezuela. MediaCo President/CEO Albert Rodriguez commented, “EstrellaTV is focused on delivering credible, real-time reporting on the stories that matter most to our viewers. Partnering with EVTV Digital Network allows us to expand our newsgathering capabilities with trusted journalists who are closely covering developments in Venezuela.”

EVTV is led by CEO Carlos Méndez. He said, “This collaboration reflects our shared mission to inform audiences with timely, accurate reporting. Together with EstrellaTV, we are able to extend the reach of our journalism to a broader national audience.”
