A new weather presentation system that shows the weather “with greater realism in 3D” has earned itself a 2026 NAB Show spotlight at the booth hosted by AccuWeather. It’s another demonstration of how “AR” is shifting newscast weather reports into the AI era.
Augmented reality powers “ImmersiCast,” which AccuWeather says gives a local newscast producer the ability to show viewers tomorrow’s forecast unfold over time “as a living three-dimensional in-the-city views” — where rain falls in real time, snow accumulates minute-by-minute, and skies shift from sunrise to storm to sunset based on the actual forecast.
“While every station reports the weather more or less the same, ImmersiCast from AccuWeather changes everything by making weather forecasts much easier to demonstrate for your viewers, all while making the entire weather presentation more impactful and unforgettable,” said Dr. Joel N. Myers, Founder and Executive Chair of AccuWeather. “By immersing your meteorologist into the weather story, storms, clouds, precipitation and lightning are more realistically communicated. Be the first station in your market to bring this amazing capability to your viewers, using the unique and special capabilities of ImmersiCast.”
Built on “Unreal Engine,” a real-time cinematic rendering product, ImmersiCast is powered by AccuWeather’s data and broadcast technology team, expressly for local television.
The new system can be stand-alone or combined with existing weather displays, bringing spectacular virtual and augmented reality to your viewers.
Also debuting at the 2026 NAB Show from AccuWeather is StoryTeller NewsPro, described as “an interactive dynamic display capable of enhancing all elements of the newscast.” It uses an interactive touchscreen showing multiple live reporters, unlimited videos, and web cameras simultaneously, giving talent the ability to telestrate, spotlight, zoom, drop in icons and drill down to street level with the touch of a finger.
Attendees of the 2026 NAB Show can find AccuWeather in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center at Booth N1710.
