From late August 1983 through the summer of 1986, “Hitradio 93” KKHR served Los Angeles with Top 40 music. Some still recall the attempt by CBS Radio to chip away at KIIS-FM in an era that saw massive audience, Rick Dees in the Morning and nearly impenetrable local and national advertising activity.
Today, the KKHR call letters belong to an Abilene, Tex., 50,000-watt FM that’s in the news today because it’s being sold — along with two siblings — to a local operation led by Rodney Amonett.
KKHR-FM “Star 106.3,” a Latin Contemporary station, is being spun alongside News/Talk KWKC-AM 1340 and FOX Sports Radio affiliate KZQQ-AM 1560 in Abilene from CANFIN Enterprises to WesTex Telco LLC.
A $350,000 price has been agreed upon, with a $25,000 cash deposit made to Elizabeth Wagstaff.
Serving as the seller’s broker in this transaction is Gammon Miller LLC.
CANFIN is led by Parker Cannan.
