In recent years, the Pittsburg, Ks.-Joplin, Mo. DMA attracted national attention as it was the home market for former FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, who was raised in Parsons, Ks. Now, Joplin is getting attention again thanks to the launch of a new over-the-air broadcast TV station in the Missouri city that first gained attention for its mining industry.
Digital Networks LLC has officially launched KJLN-LD 50 in Joplin, featuring four digital multicast channels associated with Get After It Media, the entity that succeeds the former Luken Communications.
With KJLN on the air, “Heartland” earns the DT1 signal. The second-run fare of Retro TV will be seen on DT2, with Rev’n on DT3, Action on DT4 and Fam on DT5.
“Bringing our networks’ family-friendly programming to the viewers of Joplin has been a goal of the Digital Networks team for quite some time,” said Joel Wertman, President of Digital Networks and Get After It Media. “KJLN’s new lineup offers something for absolutely everyone, and our team is already planning the next market launch. Stay tuned for even more growth.”
The Heartland Network is a country music and lifestyle channel, while Retro TV’s calling card includes shows such as Doctor Who, Naked City, The Beverly Hillbillies, One Step Beyond, and The Ray Bradbury Theater.
Rev’n is dedicated to all things motors including cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, ATVs, snowmobiles, events, and auctions. The Action Channel “is the place for daredevils and adrenaline junkies” with Strongman Champions League, OVW Wrestling, EFC Premium Fights and more. The Family Channel features programming “for every member of the family including cooking shows, family movies, DIY and more with a host of entertaining and informative programs.”
