A Class C2 FM licensed to Chariton, Iowa, is about to trade hands, pending FCC approval.
What does this mean for those who enjoy listening to “Iowa’s True Oldies Channel?”
That will no longer be up to Edwin Brand, as his Honey Creek Broadcasting is agreeing to sell KEDB-FM 105.3 in Chariton to St. Gabriel Communications.
As such, the programming is shifting as the buyer operates non-commercial non-secular FMs, and an application to convert KEDB to non-commercial status will be filed.
At closing, KEDB will join a group of radio stations comprised of KLOX-FM in Creston and KIHS-FM 88.5 in Adel, Iowa, in addition to K233BT in Des Moines.
St. Gabriel Communications is also the parent of Trinity Communications, a for-profit corporation which is the licensee of KWKY-AM in Des Moines and recently acquired KDLS-FM in Perry, Iowa.
A $600,000 purchase price was agreed to, and the buyer has made a $25,000 deposit to John Wells King, serving as escrow agent and as the buyer’s legal counsel.
David Oxenford of Wilkinson Barker Knauer served as the seller’s legal counsel.
