HAIKU, HAWAII — George Hochman is the sole owner of two FM stations in the Aloha State and the majority shareholder of five other radio stations in Hawaii. A sixth station is 25% owned by Hochman, with noted Los Angeles air personality William Poorman another 25% owner.

Now, Hochman is set to become the 100% owner of a silent AM serving the Honolulu market.

Hochman, through the licensee dubbed “Hochman Hawaii Two Inc.,” is adding KUPA-AM 1370 in Pearl City, on the island of Oahu, to his holdings.

KUPA formally joins KTOH-FM in Kalaheo, Hawaii, and FM translator K300AT under this licensee.

KUPA is licensed for 6,200 watts from 1 tower, located off the H2 Freeway on Waiawa Prison Road. It’s northwest of Honolulu, but reaches most of the metropolitan area.

The seller is Beach Time Broadcast, and it is also parting ways with associated FM translator K280FC at 103.9 MHz in Waipahu.

The deal is valued at $55,000, and a $1,000 good faith deposit has been made.

Beach Time is led by James Su.
