NEW YORK — The inaugural EBF Inspire Award for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, presented by the Emma Bowen Foundation (EBF), has been handed to the broadcast television company led by Michael J. Hayes that played host to the venue where the honor was bestowed: Hearst Tower.
Earning the award is Hearst Television.
The honor, says EBF, “serves as a beacon of recognition for those who lead the way in creating inclusive environments where diversity is celebrated, equity is pursued, and everyone has the opportunity to belong.”
Presentation of the award by EBF CEO Nikki Bethel came at the TVB Executive Summit, a half-day in-person event that supplants the organization’s previous annual gathering at the Javits Center. She singled out Hearst Television’s “commitment to inclusive leadership, innovative DEI initiatives, and long-term dedication to equity have created a lasting impact within their organization and beyond.”
EBF also cited Hearst Television’s ongoing efforts “to break down barriers and foster an inclusive environment have set them apart as a leader in this space.”
A partnership between EBF and Hearst Television began nearly 20 years ago, when David Barrett, then the President of Hearst Television, joined the EBF Board.
“Television broadcasters have led the way in ensuring their employees reflect the diversity of their audiences, and Emma Bowen Foundation has been a crucial partner in our own recruitment and training efforts,” Hayes said. “We’ve enjoyed a decades-long
relationship with this wonderful organization and we’re honored by this recognition.”
