Fine Erased As False FCC Certification Charge Disappears

In late August, the head of the FCC Media Bureau’s Audio Division believed the licensee of an FM translator serving Washington’s state capital made false certifications to the FCC in an application. As such, based on the information at hand, Al Shuldiner proposed a $20,000 fine against the non-profit operator of the facility.


Now, in an about-face, Shuldiner says that was not the case. As such, there will be no fine but instead an admonishment based on the actual events that transpired.
