Until now, Spanish-dominant Hispanics seeking wholly U.S.-focused news and information on cable or broadcast TV have had little, if any, choices.
Estrella Media now seeks to fill that void.
The company born out of the ashes of LBI Media nearly one year ago has formally launched Estrella News, and as a 24-hour multiplatform news network.
The company, led by CEO Peter Markham, believes it is the first serving U.S. Hispanics to provide news content in live digital and streaming format 24/7 — beating big-pocketed Univision and NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises to the punch.
How will viewers be able to access Estrella News?
Markham promises that it will be available on all major OTT platforms and online environments, as well as on the DT2 subchannels of its owned-and-operated stations.
Estrella News debuted this week on FOX Entertainment’s free streaming service Tubi and will appear soon on the Roku Channel and Samsung’s TV Plus, as well as other digital
networks as Estrella Media widens its distribution reach.
“During such an unprecedented time, we were inspired to launch the first-ever Spanish-
language 24/7 news portal in the U.S. and to partner with Tubi; this undoubtedly marks
a new chapter in the history of Spanish-language news media,” Markham said. “Estrella News will provide the best and most relevant Spanish-language news content to the U.S. Hispanic audience, ensuring our communities will have easy access to breaking news on any device, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
Local news delivery will be seen in Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston and Miami, where Estrella Media has properties.
On the national front, Estrella News will feature a team of dedicated journalists across
the U.S. and Latin America, including those offering sports coverage of events and teams in the states and in Mexico.
