TORONTO — Can fiscally strained Corus Entertainment, with its shares at 15 cents CDN going into Tuesday’s trading on the TSX, benefit in any way from the premiere of new seasons from returning and first-time series airing on its Global television network?
That’s a question some investors may be asking today.
The network on Monday unveiled premiere dates for its fall 2024 schedule “chock full of star-studded new series” alongside 12 of what it calls spring’s Top 20 programs, citing Numeris PPM data for television viewing.
Among the highlights is the September 18 return of Survivor, airing in the 8pm hour and back for Season No. 47. On September 27 at 8pm is the return of the FOX series 9-1-1.
And, Global is the home in Canada’s to NBC’s Saturday Night Live.
New scripted programming includes a reboot of the Andy Griffith-helmed silver viewer favorite Matlock — this time starring Kathy Bates. The premiere episode is set for September 22 and will take a regular scheduled time on Thursday at 9pm starting on October 17.
Canadian-produced mystery Murder in a Small Town, starring Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk debuts Tuesday, September 24 at 8pm before landing in its official time slot of Wednesdays at 10pm on October 8.
The latest addition to the “NCIS” franchise starring Austin Stowell as a young Agent Gibbs, NCIS: Origins, premieres Monday, October 14 at 9pm with a one-time two-hour episode before moving to its regular time slot at 10pm on Monday, October 21.
Lastly, Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. come to Global with Poppa’s House starting Monday, October 21 at 8:30pm.
